Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has formally inaugurated the CM Laptop Scheme, a flagship initiative aimed at empowering students across Punjab with the latest technology. The scheme, along with the Honhaar Scholarship Program, is designed to reward academic excellence and support deserving students financially.
Key Features of the CM Laptop Scheme
The CM Laptop Scheme aims to distribute laptops to students within a tight 90-day timeline. Highlights include:
- Latest Technology: Students will receive Core-i7, 13th-generation laptops.
- Merit-Based Distribution: Laptops will be awarded to Matriculation and F.Sc position holders, as well as students excelling in fields such as Computer Science, Medical Sciences, and Engineering.
- Inclusivity: 2,000 laptops are earmarked for minority students.
- Broad Coverage:
- 20,000 laptops for university students.
- 14,000 for college students.
- 4,000 for technical and agricultural colleges.
- 2,000 for medical and dental colleges.
- South Punjab Representation: 32% of recipients will belong to South Punjab.
The CM Laptop Scheme also ensures that deserving students receive their devices promptly, with 5,000 laptops to be distributed within 30 days and a total of 35,000 by February 2025.

Supporting Students Through the Honhaar Scholarship Program
Alongside the CM Laptop Scheme, the Honhaar Scholarship Program offers full tuition coverage for students, helping to ease the financial burden on families.
- Beneficiaries: 18,000 female students will be awarded scholarships.
- Wide Outreach: The program covers 30,000 students from government institutions and 10,000 from private institutions.
- Transparent Process: Out of 68,329 applications, 34,290 have been verified, ensuring scholarships reach deserving candidates.
Enhancing Education Across Punjab
The government’s efforts to improve education extend beyond the CM Laptop Scheme and scholarships. Public university enrollment has exceeded targets, with an additional 15.5% students enrolled. Leadership appointments in 18 public universities are also progressing, further strengthening the education sector.
